What to look for in wedding decor

Regardless of the size or style of your wedding, “the little details” are what can make the biggest difference when it comes to decor, says Becca Atchison, Founder and Creative Director of Rebecca Rose Events. Think uniquely-shaped candles, intimate tealights, eye-catching signs, and programs. “No matter how simple the wedding, great quality paper elements always elevate the overall look and allow such ample opportunity for personalization,” says Atchison.

FAQ
  • What kind of wedding decor is most popular right now?

It all comes down to one word: variety. “Couples are willing to be more adventurous than ever,” says Atchison. “For example, rather than choosing one style of centerpiece or tabletop look for all dinner tables in a reception, it’s more common now to see a variety of tabletop styles within the same space.”

The same attitude goes for patterns, textures, and arrangements styles, with many couples now choosing to curate different options instead of one set look. “The result is chock full of personality and so much more visually interesting,” adds Atchison.

  • How much should you spend on wedding decor?

Every couple’s finances are different, but it’s common to allocate “at least 25-30% of a wedding budget on decor,” advises Atchison. That number may seem high, but don’t forget that decor can include everything from linens to lighting to furniture to glassware.

However, like with every wedding expense, make sure you figure out your max budget before purchasing any items.  “It’s always about determining your logistical needs first and then making thoughtful decisions about how those needs can be met beautifully and cohesively," says Atchison.
